The boat is a Cape Barren Goose – also a Joubert design, a bigger, fatter version of B2 with a centre cockpit. There were only nine built, all by Geoff Baker, so not very common and seldom on the market. I think she weighs in at about 22 tons – a lot of boat. I’ve been asked to help sail her down from Port Stephens to Melbourne next month. Potentially an interesting trip given the current La Nina conditions. There aren’t too many bolt holes in Bass Strait if it goes pearshaped but a good boat for it. Watch this space
